If you missed the last few weeks of my personal challenge I will link them just below for you to have a catch up:
Current Grocery Budget: £103
I wasn’t sure how this week would go, I knew it would be close. I did try to plan a little more and learn from the last few weeks. We do eat a lot of fruit as snacks but we do need some convenience snacks for example a cereal bar when out and about to have in the changing bag, this has been one thing we have been very quick to run out on so this week I wanted to pick up more. I also wanted to continue stocking up if any of my regular purchases were on offer.
Asda – £115.75 (£3 Asda price guarantee vouchers so cash paid £112.75)
So I didn’t quite hit my goal but £10 out is still amazing. I have saved £140 on our food budget compared to the last 6 months. I knew exactly where the £10 went and it wasn’t on food but on other household items which yes I could have left behind to hit the target however they are household items we needed:
- Two cot-bed sheets (illness a few months ago lost a couple and in a house with no tumble dryer it can be hard to wash and dry in one day)
- Tin Opener
- Folder and dividers (Christmas organisation piece I am working on and due to our de-cluttering skills we have no spares)
I did however manage to stock up a few extra items:
- Cooking Chocolate
- Caster Sugar
- Baking butter
This weeks meal plan
I am very happy with the outcome of this challenge the last 6 months we have spent £600 per month so to have spend £460 and see we can do it is great. In September I budgeted £500 for food just to be safe and know we had a little extra. I had been saying I would reduce grocery spend for the last year and never had. So October I plan to budget £480 still slightly more than £450 but I want to stock up more next month as November see 5 week month for our grocery budget.
I plan to challenge myself again in October, I will let you know what my challenge will be over on my Instagram account so keep an eye out for that.
Any tips on how you keep your groceries down would be gratefully received. How did your grocery spend go this month?
